Hello, Barbie! The indomitable Margot Robbie is set to put her spin on the world’s most famous doll this July. But if it seems like the role she was born to play, well, there’s a bit more to the story.
For Vogue’s Summer issue, Robbie opens up about the “Barbie” movie’s winding road to the screen, including how her production company, LuckyChap, finally got the long-discussed project off the ground, and her part in persuading Greta Gerwig to both write it (along with her partner, Noah Baumbach) and direct. “At the time this was such a terrifying thing to take on,” Robbie says. “People were like, You’re going to do what?”
